Simpsonville- Michael W. "Mike" Campbell, 70, beloved husband of Virginia Ann Campbell, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 20, 2018.

Mr. Campbell was born in West Pelzer to the late Roy Lee Campbell and Mamie Doris Hudgens Campbell. He was an alumnus of the Citadel and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a consultant with Alliance Engineering and a member of Simpsonville First Baptist Church. Mike loved hunting and was a life-long member of Fandysal Hunt Club. He loved the farm and the Citadel Club meetings, but his greatest joy was being "Papa" to his grandkids.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Nick Campbell and wife Alexis; two brothers and their wives, Tim and Pam Campbell, and Keith and Debbie Campbell; a sister, Melissa Broome and husband Tony; and four grandchildren, Addie Reese, Grayson, Stone, and Hampton Campbell. He was predeceased by a son, Blake Campbell.

A Celebration of Mike's Life will be 5:30 PM Thursday in the Sanctuary of Simpsonville First Baptist Church. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends in the sanctuary immediately following the service.

Editor's Note: Mike was a proud member of "D" Company, a corporal, S/Sgt, and 2nd Lt. He was a Business Major, a member of the Religious Council, The Sphinx editor's staff, and Senior Class Board of Director's.
