Funeral services for Jerry Stanley Doughty, 55, will be held at 4 PM Tuesday, August 23, 2005 at St. Batholomew's Episcopal Church. The Rev. Kathy Campbell will officiate. Jerry died Friday Aug. 19, 2005. Born in Florence, he was the son of the late John Harold and Bessie Lou Tarte Doughty. He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church of Florence. He attended McClenaghan High in Florence and was a graduate of The Citadel. Upon graduation from The Citadel, he served in the U.S. Air Force and obtained a master's degree in engineering, an MBA from the University of South Carolina after leaving the Air Force, and retired from Sonoco as an engineer. Surviving are his wife, Olivia G. Doughty of Hartsville; a son, Trent Doughty of Columbia; a daughter, Kimberly D. Newsome of Hartsville; a brother, John H. Daughty of Cary, NC; a grandson, Graham Pinner Newsome; and special friends, Theresa Sanderford and Jean Dennis. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jeanette Touchberry.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Jerry was a Civil Engineer major. He was an "H" Company corporal and Sgt. Jerry was on The Brigadier staff, a member of the American Road Builders Association, the American Society of Civil Engineers, and the Society of Military Engineers. During his sophomore and junior years, he maintained Dean's List. Later, he became the Senior Civil Engineer for SONOCO Products Company in Hartsville, SC.
