Joseph R. "Randy" Carter , 74, entered into rest Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Piedmont Hospital. The family is planning a private Celebration of Life Service at a later date. Randy was a native of Florence, SC and was the son of the late Joe and Inez Carter. He graduated from the Citadel, class of '70 and received his bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. He was a successful businessman as a Professional Electrical Engineer and the CEO of Carter Engineering and Testing Company. In his spare time, Randy's hobby was Lionel model trains, but his greatest love was his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was a member of Abilene Baptist Church and served as a preschool Sunday School Teacher before becoming disabled. Serving as a Mason and Shriner, Randy was devoted to helping the Shriner's Hospital for Children. He was a devoted husband, father, and brother. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Paula Carter; two sons, Dr. Joseph P. "Joey" Carter, and David R. Carter; and his sister, Florence Lee Carter. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriner's Children's Hospital in Greenville, SC at Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors, 2502 Richmond Hill Road, Augusta, GA, 30906.

Editor's Note: Randy was a proud member of "E" Company, an Electrical Engineering major, in the Denominational Group, American Institute of Electrical Engineers and played Intramurals all four years.
