David C. Boland, Sr., 66, of St. Simons Island, Ga., died Thursday, June 19, at Hospice of the Golden Isles in Brunswick, Ga. His funeral will be Tuesday 11 a.m. at Christ Church, Frederica on St. Simons Island. Internment will immediately follow in the church cemetery. A reception will be in the Parrish House. Pallbearers are Tommy Haisten, Jim Anderson, Jimmt Szwast, Richard Willis, Sr., Richard Willis, Jr., and Pinkie Butler. Born in Douglas, Ga., David was a lifelong resident of St. Simons Island. He attended Glynn County Schools. He participated in the youth sports programs in baseball and football, served as a church acolyte. As a Boy Scout, he earned the rank of Eagle Scout and received membership in the Order of the Arrow. He graduated his senior year from Georgia Military College's High School Division in Milledgeville, Ga with the class of 1966. He graduated with the class of 1970 from The Citadel in Charleston, S.C. with a B.S. in Business Administration. He was the Director of Patient Financial Services of the Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick and in June, marked 25 years with SGHS. David is predeceased by an infant daughter and his parents Rosa and C.K. Boland. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Janis Garrett Boland, sons David Boland, Jr., and Benjamin Boland; sister Vicki Boland Ream; and nephew Tomy Ream, all of St. Simons Island. Those wishing may contribute to Southeast Georgia Health System Foundation or Hospice of the Golden Isles.
